Radical Islamic Operational Code

Recently, security forces, intellectuals and politicians in the West have given increasing attention to radical Islam in the Islamic enclaves in Europe and around the world. These enclaves serve as bases for consolidating and preparing Islamic radical activists to undertake missions of terror all with the declared intent of imposing Islam on mankind.

Dr. Reuven Berko’s lecture shows how mapping individuals’, groups’, and movements’ operational code can serve as a tool to predict their decisions and behavior, with special attention to radical Islam.

The operational code methodology examines various psychological and philosophical dimensions including motivations and states of mind as well as approaches and features of practical and declared behavior. The aim is to equip team group members and leaders to form judgments, develop comprehensive strategies, and make responsible decisions.

In his lecture, Dr. Berko applies this methodology to explain radical Islamic movements, enclaves, doctrines, and leaders. To help in the fight against global terrorism, this type of lecture offers new working techniques, different ways of thinking and analyzing, criteria for distinguishing enemies from friends, and measures for crystalizing initiatives and responses.

This lecture reviews the operational code of radical Islamic doctrinaires that deal with the need to reinstate the former power of Islam today by imitating the ways Muhammad and his followers. Dealing with this dynamic through the operational code paradigm furnishes a "case study" and can be also implemented in other fields of threats and opportunities.
